Learn how the CANFIT framework can guide you in adapting or creating a lesson to reach all students. You will learn about the six aspects of a lesson to address, see lesson examples, and be invited to adapt a lesson to use with your students. Slideshow, including links to resources: Students can know vocabulary and word order, but they still can be difficult to understand. This can be frustrating and embarrassing for them, and lead to low confidence about speaking, especially outside of class. Click the slideshow from the workshop and the resources, and learn how to help your students improve their word stress, sentence stress, thought groups, and voice quality settings so they can communicate successfully in class, at work, and in daily life.
Slideshow Resources: Pronunciation Kit (Minnesota Literacy Council) Word Stress (British Council) Introduction to stress (Jennifer ESL video) Long sentences (Jennifer ESL video)
How do you organize an effective lesson? What are important elements to include to ensure that students learn the skills you address? This workshop will answer these questions, and will introduce a simple template to guide your planning, as well as websites with useful -- and fun! -- resources to draw from. You will come away with a draft lesson plan to use with your students. Click for the slideshow, including resources.
